STRATA - UNIVERSITY OF LYON

The courtyard evokes a sedimentary landscape, referring to the excavated underground used to build a new amphitheater.
Strata made of custom-made melt basalt pavers creates a dark yet elegant iridescent floor. Thin slots of creeping thyme under a cherry blossom canopy enable the floor to absorb rain water.
Poppy petals fossilized in acrylic blocks are incrusted into the floor and placed randomly into the courtyard. Larger acrylic pieces are used as lounges, giving the impression of floating on a poppies carpet. They are movable to allow outdoor activities and event, such as concerts and movie projections.
